Social Media in Education

The final thought of social media and Web 2.0 went to teachers' social media usage in education because teachers' social media usage is my research interest. The use of social media in the context of education is very broad and diverse, depending on the level of support provided by the teacher or school.
A recent study published in 2018 explored teachers' perception of Web.2.0 technologies in education. Ninety language teachers as participants responded to the survey. The most frequently visited social networks were Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Viadeo and Twitter. The platforms they use could vary but most teachers perceived utilization of Web2.0 technologies is effective in their teaching and learning.

Web 2.0 technologies can be used for teaching contents in practice, classroom management, learning knowledge, personal interaction for teachers. Today, teachers accompany students' learning process, teach them how to collect, analyze, criticize and communicate information as well as teachers' learning to improve their professional competencies. In this way, teachers' tasks look getting more complex and multifaceted. Accordingly, professional learning networks seems to be an effective means to get them prepared for diverse and complicated tasks.
