Web 2.0; Open, Creative, and Interactive

I am a generation who experienced the development of the internet in school age. It was the first time I used a 286 computer (286 RAM?) when I was in my third grade and had to wait at least three seconds each time I hit a keyboard. By the upper grades of elementary school, color screen computers were available on the market, and the Internet became available for the first time in the late 1990s when it was a junior high school student. Since then, technology has developed at a tremendous speed, and in almost two decades it has become the age of machines that recognize themselves without human manipulation. So, whenever I read articles about Web2.0, I remind my school activities using computers and websites.
A figure below addresses the differences among web*.0s. The difference between Web1.0 and web 2.0 is the change from the one-way audience or consumer to bi-directional producer and consumer. With this change, a tremendous amount of information is stored on the server, and with new possibilities, web2.0 evolves and the web 3.0 web age is on the way.

As we can see, Web 2.0 refers to the social web. Social web means that people in Web 2.0 interact with each other, creat contents, and distribute them. Some experts suggested social activities in Web 2.0 such as podcasting, blogging, tagging, curating with RSS, social bookmarking, social networking, social media, and web content voting. In reviewing the content, I have evaluated how aggressive the web2.0 user is. It seems to me that only about three to four of the eight features are available to me. Over time, I seem to be focusing a little more on information or professional knowledge activities that are necessary for everyday life rather than personal communion activities via the web. At this point in time, it comes to me more clearly that we need to have competencies to know how to utilize technologies and how to select proper technologies in a purposeful way.

  1. I love the graphic you used! It really does a nice job representing what the connection focus is for each of the .0s you mention!

I appreciate the "trip down memory lane" that you took me on in the first part of your blog post as well. Thank you!
