Instructional design using Web 2.0 tools
I am planning to design a lesson on teacher burnout using
Web 2.0 tools for teacher training. The lesson will include diverse activities
and instructional resources such as a collaborative activity and in-depth
activity through an online platform to transfer knowledge. A major challenge is
to design interactive and learner-centered instruction using proper tools. I
have used several tools and found features in the eme6414 class, but when I
tried to apply them to my instructional design, it was not easy to determine
which tools would be best suited for the learning activities I wanted to
implement.
Another thing that I need to keep in mind when I choose Web
2.0 tool is to consider learner characteristics, learning contents, and
motivation. When I explore tools, I found that those three facts could affect
learning performances. For example, I thought that I could use Symbaloo
learning path as one of the learning activities. I shortly recognized that the
tool could not fit for teachers' learning because of the simple and childish
interface, which can interfere with their motivation for learning. Also, I
chose TedEd as one of the learning tools in that Youtube videos related to
teacher burnout can help learning and TedEd platform support learning
activities at the same time.
However, I am still trying to align with learning objectives
and activities as well as finding useful tools to support learning. Even though
I learned important components of instructional design, I realize that
designing great instruction is difficult whenever I try to develop educational
programs. In this assignment, I will need to keep focusing on the features of
Web 2.0 when designing learning objectives and activities.
I am looking forward to the final output I make!
