Reflection of Knowledge Sharing and Tracking

Knowledge sharing and tracking was new concept for me before I did this activity. Blogging and sharing was understood for me as just a work for people who have interests and time. However. during the knowledge sharing and tracking activities this time, I could learn how the curators feel and do to maintain the page well. Looking back at the past two weeks, there are a few topic which gave me strong impression.

Topic
When I started doing my Scoop.it page, it was hard to set a specific topic because I did not know about the platform well such as the frequent users and all features even though it provides useful functions. First, I regarded cooking recipes for Korean people in the U.S., which is the topic that I chose for community observation. However, I wanted a meaningful activity this time for my future research and learning current reality for teachers' professional learning. Once I decided the topic, the next step was collection and types of information.

Assessing information to share
What kind of resources would be helpful for both of teachers and myself? There were tons of resources on the Web such as internet articles, research reports, communities, platforms, etc. I needed to choose specific types of information with reasons. For benefit of both audiences and myself, I selected practical information for teachers' professional learning such as community platforms, apps, social  media for communication so that I can get places where teachers' professional learning occur and teachers can find the place and ways to learn. Now, it is time to manage your curation page.

Consistency
You need to be consistent to make the curation page active. You should visit the curation page on a regular basis so that visitors feel that owners take care of the page like individual blogs. However, I visited my page irregularly and used too much times to find and collect data. I should have posted information frequently.

Promotion
Finally, promotion strategies is one of the most important factors to increase the number of visitors. For example, the number of visitors increased after I posted a message about my curation page in two communities for teachers' professional learning. On the other hand, it was so calm and even worried a lot that I could not have any visitors in my page before my page was now exposed to communities. It means that you should promote your page in where target audiences visit often.

To sum, this was a great opportunity that I have focused on knowledge sharing. Basically, I shared information in social media, but I did not have values for those activities much. Through this experience, I learned that knowledge sharing is not a simple activity and how information sharing and evaluation are connected each other.
